The world’s third-best player is returning to Canada.
Rory McIlroy announced Thursday that he will play in the 2025 RBC Canadian Open, which takes place June 4-8 at TPC Toronto Osprey Valley’s north course in Caledon, Ont.
McIlroy, of Northern Ireland, won back-to-back titles in Canada in 2019 and 2022 as the intervening tournaments were cancelled due to the pandemic.
He has placed top-10 in each of the past two years.
“We’re thrilled that one of the best golfers in the world and a two-time champion of the RBC Canadian Open will be making his return. Rory brings the opportunity for Canadian fans to see the highest caliber of talent right on our home soil,” said Mary DePaoli, RBC’s EVP and chief marketing officer.
It’ll be the first time the tournament is contested at TPC Toronto, which underwent a major renovation in 2023.
Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre won the 2024 edition of the tournament in Hamilton.
Nick Taylor, the Abbotsford, B.C., native who broke a 69-year Canadian title drought with his victory at Toronto’s Oakdale in 2023, earned his fifth career victory at the Sony Open two weeks ago.
MacIntyre and Taylor previously committed to the 2025 field, alongside Canadians Adam Hadwin, Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes and Taylor Pendrith.
