The Under Armour All-America Game took place at the beginning of the month, where some of the top juniors and seniors in high school football got a chance to compete with each other on a national stage. It was the first year that juniors were invited to the game, and one of the players who took advantage of the opportunity was 2026 four-star quarterback Derek Zammit, who was one of only five quarterbacks who got the chance to perform at the all-star event. Zammit, a native of New Jersey, plays for DePaul Catholic High School, which went 11-1 this and won the non-public B state championship this season, with the quarterback playing a big factor in the success. Zammit threw for 2,582 yards, 35 touchdowns and four interceptions on the year, completing 67.9 percent of his passes while averaging a whopping 17.9 yards per attempt. He also ran for 560 yards and a touchdown on the ground, showcasing his dual-threat capabilities. After the Under Armour All-American game, the four-star quarterback reflected on the experience, where he was tested at the highest level of his young career. “It was super cool being here with obviously the best players in the country,” Zammit said. “I’m super blessed to be here. It was definitely a learning experience. Obviously, I got my guys back up north, but having a full team just full of guys that are obviously going places, it was a super cool experience. “I showed myself that there’s always room to improve. I got my opportunity in the game. I think I took advantage of it and like I said, again, I’m just blessed to be here, you know, just every opportunity I have to just come out and play football. I was super excited to get down here this week and, you know, I definitely learned a lot.” Looking at the four-star quarterback’s recruitment, there are a number of Power 4 schools that could get a visit this spring, especially in the ACC. Thus far, the three standout schools that have most consistently reached out to the four-star have been Syracuse, Mississippi State and Boston College. Zammit expects to get official visits to all in the summer. What is the quarterback looking for in a school at the next level? “I’m looking for stability and the locker room, just the overall feel I get from the school,” Zammit shared. “I want to know that I’m at home and somewhere that I could be successful and be put in, you know, the best position to have an opportunity to play the next level.” As he prepares for his senior season at DePaul Catholic, Zammit is looking to improve his leadership skills and round out his 6’0”, 185-pound frame in the offseason. “I’m looking to become a better leader,” Zammit said. “When I go back home, it’s straight back to work, so I’m gonna get my guys. We’re gonna get in the weight room and we’re gonna get to work.” There are a number of teams interested in the four-star quarterback, who has picked up 13 scholarship offers so far. Ranked as the 13th-best uncommitted quarterback in the 2026 cycle, Zammit’s recruitment should continue to pick up over the next few months, with a few ACC schools and an SEC school ahead of the pack early on.
