What You Should Know:

Epicore Biosystems, an innovator in sweat-sensing wearables, today announced a $26M in Series B funding round led by the Steele Foundation for Hope (SFFH)

– The investment will accelerate the global adoption of Epicore’s personalized hydration and cloud analytics platform and support the company’s expansion into new health applications, including kidney health, women’s health, malnutrition, and environmental toxin exposure.

Sweat-Sensing Wearables

Epicore’s technology platform analyzes sweat composition and fluid loss to provide real-time insights into hydration, stress, nutrition, and overall wellness. This non-invasive approach, combined with traditional digital biomarkers, offers a comprehensive view of an individual’s health and can alert users to potential risks such as heat injury, dehydration, and malnutrition.

Addressing Global Health Challenges

Epicore’s technology addresses several critical health challenges, including:

  • Heat-related illness: Excessive heat exposure poses a significant risk to individuals, particularly industrial workers, children, and expecting mothers. Epicore’s wearables can provide real-time alerts to prevent heat injury and dehydration.
  • Malnutrition: The company’s technology can identify early signs of malnutrition, enabling timely intervention and support.
  • Environmental toxin exposure: Epicore is developing solutions to monitor exposure to environmental toxins, helping individuals minimize their risk and protect their health.

Expanding Applications and Partnerships

Since its Series A funding, Epicore has expanded its focus beyond sports and fitness, growing its customer base by 24x with leading multinational enterprises in various sectors. The company’s suite of sweat-sensing solutions includes:

  • Gx Sweat Patch: Commercialized in partnership with PepsiCo and Gatorade for personalized hydration guidance.
  • Discovery Patch® Sweat Collection System: An FDA Class I device for sweat collection and analysis.
  • Connected Hydration wearable and cloud platform: Tailored for industrial workers to monitor hydration and prevent heat-related illness.

“Epicore has developed a new class of biochemical sensing wearables that enable the sports, fitness and connected worker sectors to unlock key health and wellness insights,” said Dr. Roozbeh Ghaffari, CEO and co-founder of Epicore Biosystems. “Our technology delivers data-driven recommendations to the wearer to help manage these types of challenges. The Series B investment will help expand our global reach and accelerate the validation of new biomarkers needed to shape the future of personalized hydration and wellness strategies for all.”
