Google’s Pixel Watch 3 Receives FDA Clearance for Loss of Pulse Detection Feature

What You Should Know:

– Google today announced a major advancement in wearable technology with the FDA clearance of its Loss of Pulse Detection feature for the Pixel Watch 3

– The feature can detect when a user experiences a loss of pulse, a potentially life-threatening event such as cardiac arrest, and automatically contact emergency services if the user is unresponsive.

– Now, with FDA clearance, Google will begin rolling out Loss of Pulse Detection in the United States at the end of March.

How it Works

The Pixel Watch 3 utilizes advanced sensors and AI algorithms to continuously monitor the wearer’s heart rate. If the watch detects a loss of pulse, it will initiate a series of vibrations and alarms to check on the user’s responsiveness. If the user does not respond, the watch will automatically call emergency services and share the user’s location.

Expanding Safety and Health Features

Loss of Pulse Detection joins a suite of safety and health features available on the Pixel Watch, including:

  • Car Crash Detection: Automatically detects car accidents and calls for help.
  • Fall Detection: Detects falls and offers assistance.
  • Irregular Heart Rhythm Notifications: Notifies users of potential irregular heart rhythms.
  • ECG App: Allows users to take an electrocardiogram (ECG) to assess their heart rhythm.
  • Safety Check: Enables users to quickly share their location with emergency contacts.
