Withings has long been known for smart wellness devices for consumers—first scales, then blood pressure monitors and other products—but it is a little shift in gears for them to offer a new blood pressure monitor, BPM Pro 2, specifically to be used by patients connected to their clinicians. In this short video, Antoine Robiliard, VP of Health Solutions at Withings, explains the purpose and use of the device. He also describes some of the advantages of smart health-related devices in the home.
Robiliard says that the BPM Pro 2 comes with an “infrastructure for clinicians to capture information,” with the goals of streamlining their workflow, and saving time getting information, consequently improving their relationship with the patient.
The interface to the BPM Pro 2 allows the clinicians to specify what information is reported, and how. For instance, alerts can be generated for risks detected. According to Robiliard, the hope is to get “better data,” not “more data.”
Blood pressure monitors used in the home are also sophisticated. For instance, the clinician can attach directions for taking blood pressure accurately, and a quest questionnaire asking for context, such as how the patient feels and whether they took their medication recently.
