The funding from Sequoia Capital, an early backer of companies like Apple, Nvidia, Google, Airbnb, and WhatsApp, underscores Avelios Medical’s potential to drive digitization in healthcare. Entirely built from scratch, its hospital information system provides the launchpad for continuous innovation and the successful use of AI in medicine.

Great Potential

With SAP exiting the HIS market by 2030, hundreds of German and European hospitals must rethink their system landscape. This presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to overhaul hospital IT, elevating the quality of care, and boosting process efficiency.

For example, preventable medication errors claim 65,000 lives each year in Germany alone – outpacing road traffic fatalities. The cause: outdated IT systems, which too often do not make data available at the right time in the right format. For the same reason, according to a study by Marburger Bund, doctors spend more than three hours a day on administrative tasks.
