Have you ever experienced something without knowing how it could be explained with science? That is what is happening to me as I learn about neuroscience for business

Honestly, I thought that my decisions were based on my intuition, which has been trained by failures and achievements, but I guess that I was wrong.

Years ago, I made a personal and business decision to adopt a single mantra as a leader: “I will always minimize future regrets”.

This mindset has become essential in our company, Convierte Mas, where we've invested significant time and resources into digital launches.

The Role of Counterfactual Thinking in Neuroscience for Business

Digital launches require meticulous planning weeks and months in advance, involving scenario projections and a mix of data-driven and intuition-based decisions. 

These campaigns involve substantial financial investment weeks before the launch date, and until that day, the outcome is uncertain.

Will we meet our targets, break even, or even exceed our expectations? The uncertainty can be challenging for the leaders and the operation team.

After reading the article “Learning: Not Just the Facts, Ma'am, but the Counterfactuals as Well”, I can finally correctly name the “what-if” scenarios that I have been conducting in business for years. 

This article provides an in-depth analysis of counterfactual thinking in decision-making and how brains process rewards from actual outcomes and “what-if” scenarios.

This approach, grounded in neuroscience for business, helps us adapt and achieve long-term success by exploring alternative scenarios and their impact on decision-making.

Usually, we allocate 75%-80% of our budget to strategies supported by data and proven previous results, while reserving 20%-25% for testing new ideas.

We’ve built dashboards to monitor real-time performance, allowing us to pivot quickly. 

This agility mirrors the article's findings on how counterfactual signals in the brain adjust decisions on the fly.

In every meeting, we introduce a “customer chair” as a reminder to always include the client's perspective. 

This focus ensures decisions are both data-driven and empathetic, aligning with the principles of neuroscience for business.

Counterfactual thinking developed an optimistic attitude for high-pressure situations, allowing us to pivot confidently in any circumstance while reducing the fear of failure as individuals and as a team.

I must confess that sometimes, the fear of regret paralyzes me, but I'm not alone.

Proactively considering alternative scenarios to minimize future regrets has shaped my identity as a resilient leader. 

This approach has proven to be a game-changer for innovation and achieving better results in our business and marketing strategies, especially in navigating the challenges of the current unpredictable economy.

Applying neuroscience for Business has also transformed my leadership hastily.
