Clover Health Appoints Dr. Shelly Gupta as Chief Medical Officer

– Clover Health Investments, Corp. today announced the appointment of Dr. Shelly Gupta as its new Chief Medical Officer (CMO).  

– In his role as CMO, Dr. Gupta will be responsible for overseeing Clover’s clinical operations, quality initiatives, pharmacy operations, and precision-based chronic disease management programs. His focus will be on promoting patient choice, provider autonomy, and the delivery of transparent, value-driven healthcare.

Dr. Gupta Bio/Background

Dr. Gupta is a trained family practice physician with over a decade of experience in Medicare Advantage leadership. He also has a proven record of improving clinical outcomes for senior populations. His previous experience includes various CMO leadership roles at Humana, where he led regional MA plans and the launch of the Humana Healthy Horizons Medicaid plan.  

During his time at Humana, Dr. Gupta achieved measurable reductions in hospitalizations and emergency visits, enhanced care coordination across healthcare settings, and played a key role in improving health outcomes for members with chronic disease complications.  

Optimizing Clover Health’s Medicare Advantage Clinical Ops

At Clover Health, Dr. Gupta will focus on using data-driven solutions and technology to optimize the company’s Medicare Advantage clinical operations. He will collaborate with physicians, health systems, and internal teams to improve care delivery, increase member satisfaction, and further Clover’s value-based care initiatives. He will also work to advance Clover’s patient-access initiatives and promote collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure Medicare beneficiaries have access to necessary care.
