Marco Wittmann kept BMW M Team RLL atop the time sheets at Daytona International Speedway in the third test session of the weekend at the Roar Before the Rolex 24.

The German driver in the No. 25 BMW M Hybrid V8 reeled off a best lap of 1:36.798 to go quickest in the 90-minute session, although was unable to eclipse the best lap laid down by teammate Dries Vanthoor on Friday.

Wittmann’s time, however, was 0.130 seconds quicker than the No. 93 Meyer Shank Racing Acura ARX-06 of Renger van der Zande, who made a late-session improvement, ahead of the No. 6 Penske Porsche 963 of Matt Campbell.

Scott Dixon (No. 60 MSR Acura) and Filipe Albuquerque (No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R) completed the top-five.

LMP2 was paced by Felipe Fraga in the No. 74 Riley Oreca 07 Gibson.

Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2s topped the GTD ranks, which also saw the two quickest cars ahead of the pace-setting GTD Pro entry, which was another Lamborghini.

Franck Perera was credited with the quickest time in the No. 78 Forte Racing entry, ahead of Danny Formal’s WTR entry in second.

Friday pace-setter Andrea Caldarelli, meanwhile, put Pfaff Motorsports’ new Lamborghini quickest in GTD Pro.

A single red flag halted action with 45 minutes to go when a signboard needed to be removed from the racing line at the Le Mans Chicane.

The session also saw a test of IMSA’s revised category/class split procedure, which will be in place during full course cautions this year. The process lasted ten minutes.

Saturday’s second session gets underway at 3:10 p.m. ET.
