Team Chelsea Carey coach confirms squad has disbanded

Team Chelsea Carey coach Glenn Howard says the Winnipeg-based rink has disbanded. 

Vice Karlee Burgess left the team a few weeks ago to join Team Kerri Einarson as an injury replacement for Shannon Birchard. 

Team Carey lost its pre-qualification berth in the national championship and Canadian Curling Trials as a result. 

Carey replaced Jennifer Jones at skip this season but the team fell from second in the national rankings to 11th. 

Howard says there are no events left to play in and he’s no longer serving as coach because “there’s no team.”

Carey has declined multiple interview requests.

The team’s social media page on X, formerly Twitter, has been dormant since a news release confirming the Burgess departure.
