Pokemon Yamada Heiando Bowls Feature Pikachu, Ekans, and Dragonite

Yamada Heiando, an old Japanese store specializing in carved lacquer, released some Pokemon bowls based off the Chinese Zodiac. As a note, Yamato Heiando does offer international shipping. [Thanks, Poke Times!] Here is a video focusing on the manufacturing process for these carved lacquer Pokemon bowls: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUbe4cCHp8c The artisans do everything by hand. In the video, we can see that they even mixed the lacquer by hand. When painting the Pokemon on the bowls, they use a technique called maki-e. After hand-painting the design, they sprinkle gold and silver onto the final image. As a result, though, this makes the price of each bowl a lot more expensive. A bowl costs 16,500 JPY, which converts to $105.60. You can choose either Pikachu, Dragonite, or Ekans. Pikachu is the face of the franchise, and is a rat. Meanwhile, Ekans is a snake Pokemon and Dragonite is a dragon; it’s currently the Year of the Snake, and the Year of the Dragon just ended. While adults can use these bowls as well, the description on Yamada Heiando’s website describes these as lucky items you would gift your baby. You would put new foods they never tried before in them. The shape of the bowl makes it hard to tip over, so you can keep on using it even after they’re old enough to feed themself. Since it’s meant to be a gift for a baby or a parent, Yamada Heiando offers the option of writing the child’s name on the bowl. The Yamada Heiando Pokemon lacquer bowls are available via its website.
