“House of the Dragon” S3 Filming Set?

Word has finally come through on the status of the third season of HBO’s epic fantasy series and “Game of Thrones” spin-off “House of the Dragon”.

HBO renewed the show for a third season in June 2024, just days before the second season premiered on the cabler. In August, showrunner Ryan Condal indicated scripts were in development, with plans for an early 2025 shoot.

Things got confusing in October at New York Comic Con when series stars Matt Smith, Fabian Frankel, and Tom Glynn-Carney revealed they knew essentially nothing about the next season.

Now, Redanian Intelligence is reporting that the third season shoot of “House of the Dragon” will run from March-October this year. Going by past seasons, airing tends to take place nearly a full year after filming wraps.

That would suggest we won’t see the new run until late Summer or early Fall 2026 – a full two years after the second season went to air. HBO has not officially announced any production or release plans for the series, only confirming previously that a third season is coming and the show will end with its fourth outing.

HBO has its other “Game of Thrones” spinoff, the six-episode “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” set to debut this year.
