The PS Store has recently seen an influx of easy Platinum games, some of which are free to download. Despite the perceived impact they have on gaming credentials, these games have proven to be popular among our readers. But there’s one free hidden gem in the PS Store that’s actually worth playing. More importantly, its Platinum trophy follows a well-written short story.
The Light in the Darkness is a free PS5, PS4 game on the PS Store
I played Arcade Distillery’s The Light in the Darkness back in 2023 when it was first released, and was pleasantly surprised by its quality. It’s an emotional story based on the Nazi occupation of France, and puts players in the shoes of a Polish Jewish family facing persecution.
It’s a grim experience, so I can’t say that the Platinum is “enjoyable,” but it’s worth every minute of your time because it’s based on harrowing real world events. It’s clear that director Luc Bernard poured his heart and soul into it.
Unfortunately, it appears that The Light in the Darkness isn’t available in some countries including Germany due to strict laws surrounding Nazi content. However, players with secondary PSN accounts in other regions should be able to download and play the game without any issues.
