Scott Foley is returning to the “Scream” franchise, the actor joining the cast of the upcoming “Scream 7” at Spyglass and Paramount Pictures.
The former “Felicity” star played Roman Bridger in the third film 25 years ago, the half-brother of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) who was revealed as the Ghostface Killer of that movie.
Roman was pretty definitively killed by Dewey (David Arquette) in that film so the actor’s return raises obvious questions as to how – faked death? flashback? long lost twin? It’s presently not clear but speculation has already begun on social media.
Foley joins the previously announced legacy cast members Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown. They’re joined by newcomers to the franchise like Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale and Mark Consuelos.
Franchise creator Kevin Williamson is directing from a script by Guy Busick (“Scream VI”). James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein are producing.
Foley most recently starred in Max’s political drama series “The Girls on the Bus” and will shortly be seen in the third season of “Will Trent” in a recurring role.
Foley made his feature film debut in the third “Scream” and followed that up with the haunted WW2 submarine tale “Below”. Collectively, the Scream franchise has earned more than $900 million in worldwide box office.
