After finally announcing a July 2nd release date, Netflix has unveiled a featurette for the upcoming “The Old Guard 2” – the sequel to 2020’s action-fantasy film about a group of immortal warriors.
In the new film, Andy (Charlize Theron) and her team return to protect humanity from a formidable new enemy who threatens their existence.
The first film ended with Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts) betraying the group and being exiled – only to find the long-lost Quynh (Veronica Ngo) lurking in his apartment. How did she get there and what does she want?
Also back are KiKi Layne as Nile, Marwan Kenzari as Joe, Luca Marinelli as Nicky and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Copley. New for the sequel are actors Uma Thurman and Henry Golding with the latter seemingly playing a new member of the team judging by the clip.
Victoria Mahoney directs from a screenplay written by Greg Rucka and Sarah L. Walker, based on Rucka and Leandro Fernandez’s comic book of the same name.
The first film’s director Gina Prince-Bythewood returns as producer alongside Theron, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, Marc Evans, Beth Kono, and A.J. Dix.
