Ryan Gosling In Talks For “Star Wars” Film

Three-time Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling looks to be joining the “Star Wars” universe.

The “Barbie” and “Blade Runner 2049” actor is reportedly in negotiations for the lead role in “Deadpool & Wolverine” filmmaker Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars” feature project.

Levy has been developing the project since 2022 with the help of writer Jonathan Tropper (“This is Where I Leave You,” “The Adam Project”), with the pair working on a script for over a year.

Levy is also producing the feature via his 21 Laps banner, which also produces Netflix’s smash hit series “Stranger Things”. 21 Laps will work in collaboration with Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm.

There are no details regarding the time period in which Levy’s project is set, and works in the franchise often jump between various time periods. The one thing that is confirmed story-wise is that this is meant to be a standalone film – one not connected to the Skywalker Saga.

Gosling’s involvement is relatively recent. Levy was lining up a boy band movie at Paramount reuniting Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, but Gosling’s interest in this has suddenly shifted this forward.

As a result, this will not only be Levy’s next film but also likely the next “Star Wars” movie to go into production. Shooting will begin this Fall.
