“Deadpool and Wolverine” joked that Hugh Jackman would play Wolverine until he was 90. It turns out that may not be as much of a joke as you might think.
This weekend’s comic book movie rumor du jour is that Hugh Jackman plans to continue as Wolverine well into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Mutant Saga.
Scooper MyTimeToShineH claims that Jackman is “not even close to being done” with the role. The actor reportedly intends to play Wolverine for at least another ten years.
If the report is true, Jackman is 56 years old, so technically, he could play the part until he’s nearly 70. The scooper adds that Marvel Studios also wants a “Deadpool & Wolverine” trilogy, which is less of a surprise considering the R-rated first film grossed over $1.3 billion.
Marvel is currently busy wrapping up its Multiverse Saga with “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” expected to reset the board for the Mutant Saga with X-Men characters coming in to play in the MCU sandbox.
Filming on “Avengers: Doomsday” kicks off in March in the UK.
