Our Legacy FW25 Wants You to Exist in Multitudes

Our Legacy's Fall/Winter 2025 fashion manifesto, "AULA," demonstrated style's transformational magic. Presented during Milan Fashion Week, the collection examined how one's dress and environment can entirely alter their outward appearance, emphasizing the tension between the "safe anonymity of the everyday life" and the "sharpness of being 'on duty,'" per designer Cristopher Nying's collection notes.”The way our surroundings influence the personas we adopt has always intrigued me," said Nying. "I picture a tobacconist, ordinary and practical during workday, stepping into an entirely different character at night, vibrant and expressive. Similarly, I once ran into an old hockey teammate in the park while he was playing with his kids. At first, I didn’t even recognize him. It’s funny how environment and context can blur the lines of recognition, making someone so familiar feel like a stranger until it all clicks.”Replicating this phenomenon for Milan's glitterati, Nying's models were styled in two completely opposite looks, and it was often impossible to match one subject with their alter-ego. Swipe through the lookbook above, and you'll see the fashioner's striking contrasts: punkish streetwear aficionados became posh socialites just as the boldly avant-garde turned carefully subdued, and intimidating leather-lovers shapeshifted into preppy teacher's pets. That tobacconist Nying mentioned found a focal point on the line's mood board, too. Much like the character's day-to-night metamorphosis, the collection mirrored the evolution of literal tobacco stores, once luxury locales that have since turned into "parcel hubs," the designer noted. That's why the clothing's palette — deep brown, ashy grey, muted green and yellow tint — often appeared ideal for a smoke shop's patron. Here's the final takeaway: the contemporary Our Legacy client must be nimble, someone unafraid to draw a stylistic Venn diagram between who they are, how they appear and who they wish to become, and use their findings to expand outside of their wardrobe's comfort zones.See Our Legacy's Fall/Winter 2025 collection in the gallery above, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more Milan Fashion Week coverage.Click here to view full gallery at Hypebeast
