Champion Holds First Pitti Uomo Presentation Since 2018 – 'Champion: A Portrait'
Under the creative direction of Maurizio Donaldi, Champion Europe is officially returning to Pitti Uomo. Entitled Champion: A Portrait, the exhibition marks the label's first Pitti presentation since 2018.“A portrait is a snapshot of a moment. It is the act of distillation – the boiling down of the complexities and contradictions of a person into one single image. Their history; their present; their future. It’s all there. All at once. But, in a way, a portrait is also a vessel for projection: a canvas for expression,” Champion Europe shared in an Instagram story (also emulated in the entryway of the exhibition.)Zip-up sweatshirts, hoodies and collegiate crewnecks are scattered about the display, complemented by "REVERSE WEAVE"-constructed tailored jackets and dresses.“In that sense, yes this exhibition is a portrait of Champion. Of our heritage, of this moment, and our plans for what comes next. But it is also about the idea of Champion as a portrait. A. Portrait of culture, of community, of change. A portrait of all of us.”Champion had its full as well as its new European "BLCK (Nowhere University)" collection, defined by its distressing and all-back designs. Print and textile designer CJ Pidlaoan was on-site elevating garments with custom hand-painted artwork.Take a closer look at Champion, a Portrait in the gallery above and in the Instagram post below.
