Madlib tribute & LA wildfires benefit show happening in NYC
Black Thought, Pete Rock, Just Blaze, Your Old Droog, and several others are lined up to honor Madlib and raise money for him and others affected by the LA wildfires.
Legendary hip hop producer Madlib is among those who lost their homes in the LA wildfires, and a fundraiser has been raising money for he and his family for essentials, temporary housing, and tools to replace the equipment that was lost in the fires. To further pay tribute to Madlib, and to raise money for fire relief in Altadena, a new benefit show has been announced in NYC. “Madlove” happens on February 19 at Crown Hill Theatre, and the lineup is full of friends and collaborators, including Just Blaze, Pete Rock, DJ Spinna, Karriem Riggins, Statik Selektah, DJ Tara, Black Thought, Your Old Droog, and Percee P. It’s hosted by Wildchild and Stacy Epps, and tickets are on sale now.
There’s also been an update on Madlib’s social media about the status of his fundraiser, which reads, “Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for the support, love, encouragement and kind words you have shared during our fundraiser!! It truly has helped Madlib get through one of the most challenging periods in his life, to know that so many care and appreciate his contributions and legacy. The fundraiser is still open if you’d like to support and/or share. Thank you all again so much!!”
