Live-Action “Solo Leveling” Film Is Coming

A live-action feature film based on the acclaimed recent anime “Solo Leveling” is currently in the works at Kakao Entertainment.

According to Crunchyroll, Kakao shared the news as part of their general plans for the future of the franchise in a recent post on their website.

As part of this post, they noted that the live-action project is currently in development. Details on a release date, cast and crew or plot information were not revealed.

The franchise is based on the South Korean web novel by Chugong, which became a webtoon in 2018, and then an anime television series adaptation which launched in 2024 and was produced by A-1 Pictures.

The story follows the world’s weakest hunter Sung Jinwoo, who, after nearly being slaughtered by monsters in a high-ranking dungeon, finds himself chosen by the System – a mysterious program only he could see and one that’s able to ‘level up’ his strength, something no other hunter can do.

Now, he’s inspired to discover the secrets behind his powers and the dungeon that spawned them. He sets off on a journey, fighting against all kinds of enemies to learn the truth about who he is destined to be – the Shadow Monarch.

The second season of the TV series launched earlier this month and broke Crunchyroll’s record for the most-liked premiere episode – racking up 129,000 likes in less than 24 hours.
