A live-action “Pac-Man” movie is now in doubt following the recent messy legal war surrounding last year’s Blake Lively-led domestic abuse drama “It Ends with Us”.
“It Ends with Us” director/co-star Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Studios label have been developing a “Pac-Man” film since 2022, with “Thor: Ragnarok” scribe Christopher Yost penning the script and Baldoni producing.
Pac-Man was a coin-operated staple, a game in which you play a yellow circle with a mouth who must move through a maze, eating pellets while being pursued by colorful ghosts as the difficulty increased.
According to THR, it is one of three projects said to be facing an uncertain future due to the very public fallout between Baldoni, Lively and their respective PR camps.
In August last year, the trade indicated that Baldoni wanted to change the narrative at that time surrounding an alleged feud between himself and Lively that was making news headlines. A text was reportedly sent to his PR team that month suggesting sharing the news that he would next direct a “Pac-Man” movie to help him “move towards the future”.
The trade adds that in recent days, sources close to Baldoni have said he has “lost three jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars” during the legal mess that began last month and virtually every partner doing business with Wayfarer is “having a conversation”.
