The other day, it was announced that “Oppenheimer” and “Numbers” actor David Krumholtz has joined the cast of the DC Studios title “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” at DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures.
He and Emily Beecham (“Into the Badlands”) were set to play the parents of Milly Alcock’s Supergirl in the film, but reports didn’t indicate whether they were cast as Kara’s biological mother, Alura and father, Zor-El, or her human adoptive parents, Eliza and Jeremiah Danvers.
Now, Krumholtz has taken to the social media platform Instagram to discuss his casting and confirmed he’s taking on the character’s Kryptonian father Zor-El, as well as speaking about how much landing the role means to him:
“I was that kid. Overflowing drawers full of comics… escaping into worlds unknown… imagining myself having powers that would benefit the greater good. Joining the DC Universe is a mind-blowing privilege. Representing the symbol of hope in Supergirl as Zor-El is a personal triumph. My gratitude overflowing now, like those drawers did.”
Filming recently began on the film, which will be the second DCU movie after James Gunn’s “Superman”. Further films based on DC characters like Clayface, Swamp Thing, and Plastic Man are in the works.
Also starring in the film are Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, Jason Momoa as intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo, and Matthias Schoenaerts as villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.
