Mufasa, Moana & Sonic Hit Box Office Milestones

The continuing performance of “Mufasa: The Lion King,” “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” and “Moana 2” at the international box-office is resulting in the films setting new records.

Disney’s “Moana 2” has now topped $1 billion at the global box office to become only the third release of 2024 to reach the mark alongside Disney’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Inside Out 2”.

The film is now at $442.8 million domestically through Sunday and $567.1 million internationally.

“Mufasa: The Lion King” keeps on roaring. Domestically, it topped one of the lowest MLK holiday weekends in a decade with estimates of a $15.5 million four-day haul to bring its domestic total up to $209.7 million.

Internationally, it did a further $20.3 million this weekend, bringing its overseas haul up to $382.2 million and the worldwide haul of the film in spitting distance of the $600 million mark.

Then there’s “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” which took in a further $11 million domestically and $15.2 million overseas, the movie now racing past the $405 million of its predecessor to a $420 million global haul through Sunday.

“One of Them Days” will take $14 million domestically for second place while “Wolf Man” estimates keep dropping – now down as low as $10.5 million. “Den of Thieves 2: Pantera” looks to drop to sixth with a four-day of $7.7 million.
