HerMD Launches Specialized Virtual Care Platform Focusing on Menopause and Sexual Health

– HerMD, a pioneer in evidence-based women’s healthcare announced the launch of Virtual Care by HerMD, a specialized telehealth platform designed to deliver comprehensive women’s health services with a dedicated focus on menopause and sexual health. Scheduling for the new virtual services is now open, with appointments set to begin on June 2, 2025.

– While the organization recently closed its physical locations due to challenges within the broader healthcare system, it remains steadfast in its mission to provide expert, judgment-free care for women navigating health concerns that are too often dismissed or minimized in traditional healthcare settings.

Expanding Access to Specialized Women’s Healthcare

The shift to a virtual platform aims to bring HerMD’s unique approach to a wider audience, ensuring patients are seen by providers deeply trained in the often underserved areas of menopause and sexual health. 

“From day one, HerMD has worked to revolutionize how women are cared for—especially in the areas of menopause and sexual health,” said Komel Caruso, co-founder and CEO of HerMD. “Virtual Care by HerMD brings our model to more patients, ensuring they’re seen by providers deeply trained in these critical, underserved areas. Fewer than 30% of OBGYNs nationwide are adequately trained in menopause and sexual health—this platform directly addresses that gap”.

Dr. Somi Javaid Returns to Direct Patient Care

Notably, the launch of Virtual Care by HerMD also marks the return of Dr. Somi Javaid, a board-certified OB/GYN and the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of HerMD, to direct patient care. Dr. Javaid, a nationally recognized leader in women’s health, established HerMD’s distinctive approach, which emphasizes longer appointment times, personalized care plans, and a commitment to treating the whole patient, not just their symptoms.

What Patients Can Expect from Virtual Care by HerMD

Patients utilizing the new virtual platform will experience HerMD’s signature extended visits, which include a comprehensive review of their medical history and ample time to address personal health concerns. Following these thorough consultations, a personalized care plan will be developed. HerMD clinicians available through the platform may order necessary labs or imaging, prescribe medications, and coordinate referrals for in-person or further specialty care as needed.

Appointments & Availability

New patient visits on the Virtual Care by HerMD platform are priced at $250, with follow-up appointments costing $150. While HerMD does not directly accept insurance for these virtual services, patients may be able to use their FSA/HSA benefits or seek out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance providers.

Virtual care is currently available to residents of Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, Ohio, and Tennessee. Expansion to California, Texas, Florida, and New York is planned soon. Patients in additional states can join a waitlist and will be notified as new markets become available.
