Nature enthusiasts, welcome to the world of Vivarium, where you create your own virtual terrariums and engage with the curious creatures within. Are terrarium-hobby simulations your kind of thing? In one month, Vivarium will have its official launch for Meta Quest, and the developers want to hear about your experiences in their upcoming Beta testing scheduled from April 24th to May 8th, 2025. Watch on Youtube HERE.
Having pre-launched for PICO 4 Ultra, PICO 4, and PICO 4 last year, the Meta Quest launch will bring new features to the table for players to test out beforehand. Players can look forward to aquascaping for saltwater aquariums and the addition of new sealife and terrestrial animals like a crab spider, a bushveld frog, and a white dutch rabbit.
Players have the opportunity to design their personal ecosystems in virtual or mixed reality from wherever they pop their headset on. Take advantage of key features like:
- Selecting the glass tank type and filling it up with soil, moss, wood, and rocks, and anything else that completes your vision
- Caring for your plants and pets by watering the plants and feeding and spending time with your critters
- Sharing your designs in your virtual lobby gallery or in mixed reality in your own space – don’t forget sharing them with friends, too
- Expanding your vivarium so that you’re sitting inside of it with your plants and pets and getting an up close look at them
- Trying out the Mission mode that lets you earn extra in-game rewards
- Collecting all of the plants and pets that you can – the more you learn about, the more rewards you get
The new aquarium feature includes a bunch of new critters and creative tools – players can now interact with 28 animal species, 34 plant species, 15 different rocks, 13 kinds of moss, and 7 different driftwood styles. On Vivarium’s content roadmap they list the addition of avatar and breeding features, as well as other new pets and plants.
