The Moonlandingz, the trio of Lias Saoudi (Fat White Family), Adrian Flanagan (Acid Klaus, Eccentronic Research Council) and Dean Honer (Add N to X, All Seeing I), have announced the follow-up to their 2017 debut. It’s titled No Rocket Required and will be out later this year via Transgressive.
While full details of the album — release date, tracklist guests — has yet to be revealed, they have shared the album’s first single, “The Sign of a Man.” Over banging Euro-techno backing, Saoudi sings such lines as “I’ve been to Paris / where I ate snails / I’ve been to Cardiff / That’s in Wales.” Says Lias: “Nature left man half-finished, unresolved, alienated, lost to permanent exile, unable or unwilling to surrender even to himself…is it any wonder he grew callous? This is a song about torpor unbound, about the relegation of love into need, about our failure to summon up ‘care’… this is a song about justice.”
The “The Sign of a Man” video was directed by Jeanie Crystal and Farry, who are channeling the work of choreographer Michael Clark and the Bauhaus movement. It’s a fun video and you can watch below.
