The Longer-Range Ram 1500 REV Pickup Has Been Canceled

Ram appears to be giving up on the longest-range version of its upcoming 1500 REV electric pickup. Mopar Insiders recently reported that the automaker has canceled the 500-mile version of the truck, leaving only the standard-range model on track for a 2026 release.

The site also published an email sent to suppliers asking them to suspend production and spending related to the Ram 1500 XL long-range model. “As Stellantis continues to focus on the launch of the Ram 1500 Ramcharger (range-extended EV) and Ram 1500 REV (standard-range EV), the Company has made the decision to CANCEL the Light Duty Ram 1500 DT BEV XL (long-range variant),” the memo stated.

Ram was clear that the standard-range truck would move forward uninterrupted but cautioned suppliers to stop work on the longer-range model. “Consequently, we ask you to immediately cease all activities related to this project and suspend all incremental spending. Please note that the cancellation only applies to UNIQUE BEV XL parts. Work on any parts shared with the BEV L should NOT be canceled/stopped.”

A spokesperson told Mopar Insiders that the decision came after other business moves that made the Ramcharger a priority. The range-extended truck promises up to 690 miles of range thanks to a 3.6-liter V6 engine that powers a 130-kW generator, extending the truck’s driving distance.
