He was good value for the winning margin that day and there’s every chance that he’ll appreciate softer conditions this time, given that he won a couple of bumpers on testing ground in France. He should also come on for his latest outing and he looks the one to beat. Selection: Kientzheim 1.50 Newbury – 3m Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) (4yo+ 0-135) The Four Sixes was in the process of running a big race before a blunder over the larger obstacles at Wetherby over Christmas. He remains interesting from this sort of handicap mark over timber and given that he’s unexposed at the trip, he looks capable of going well for a yard in cracking form in recent weeks. Selection: The Four Sixes 2.25 Newbury – 2m7½f Denman Chase (Grade 2) (Class 1) (5yo+) It looks like a cracking renewal of the Denman Chase and if the eight runners stand their ground, then Hitman might be worth supporting each-way. He ran a cracker in defeat at Ascot last time and has only found one too good in the last two renewals of this race, so he looks overpriced given that those at the head of the market have a bit to prove. Selection: Hitman 3.00 Newbury – 2m½f Game Spirit Chase (Grade 2) (Class 1) (5yo+) Sir Gino looks like a future champion in the two-mile division and he can take this race on his way to bigger things. He gets weight from some of his main rivals and his debut over fences couldn’t have been much more impressive when defeating Ballyburn, form that got a significant boost last weekend. Selection: Sir Gino 3.35 Newbury – 2m½f Handicap Hurdle (Premier Handicap) (Class 1) (4yo+) From near the bottom of the weights, Joyeuse looks like a big player. He’s entirely unexposed compared to most of these, having just his fourth start over timber and he wasn’t seen to best effect when hitting the crossbar at Cheltenham last time. He’s up 4lb but he should relish the return to softer ground and his yard has a good record in this contest. Selection: Joyeuse 4.10 Newbury – 2m7½f Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (Class 3) (5yo+) This can go the way of Pic Roc who is entirely unexposed over fences having just his third chase start here. He was only narrowly denied by a nice prospect last month and there’s every chance he’ll be an even better proposition over this sort of trip. Selection: Pic Roc 4.45 Newbury – 2m½f Beacons Bumper (Listed Race) (Class 1) (4-6yo) Dan Skelton has a cracking strike-rate in bumpers and Realco made the perfect start for his new trainer at Exeter last month. He’s entitled to come on for that outing and step forward again for a yard enjoying a fine season. Selection: Realco talkSPORT BET welcome offer – Bet £10 Get £30 in free bets* *all odds correct at time of writing and subject to change 18+ New customers only.
