talkSPORT betting tips – Best football bets and expert advice for Monday 20 January
Monday Night Football sets up an intriguing Premier League contest as Wolves head to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea. There is also action in Scotland and across Europe and we have a trio of selections which make up our best bets of the day. BET £10 GET £30 IN FREE BETS WITH TALKSPORT BET Bet of the day Dundee United to beat Dundee @ 6/5 There’s a Dundee derby to look forward to on Monday night when Dundee United make the short trip to Dens Park to take on Dundee in a Scottish FA Cup fourth-round contest. Dundee have put in two huge performances in their last two Scottish Premiership matches, picking up a 1-1 draw with Rangers and a 3-3 tie with Celtic and Tony Docherty’s side certainly showed they are a useful outfit. However, the Dark Blues put in major energy-sapping efforts in those contests in games in which they only registered only 23 and 21 percent possession and the concern will be that those exertions will be hugely felt on an already injury-depleated squad. Dundee United have tasted success in four of their last six matches which also came on the back of a 0-0 draw with Celtic, impressed when winning 1-0 at St Mirren on Wednesday night and Jim Goodwin’s men may have enough to take derby honours. Special of the day Wolves or draw double chance v Chelsea @ 2/1 It’s five Premier League matches without a victory for Chelsea, and while a Stamford Bridge contest against Wolves provides them with a good chance to snap that run, Enzo Maresca’s men may struggle to take the opportunity. The Blues have failed to beat Bournemouth, Everton and Crystal Palace, as well as losing to Fulham and Ipswich in their last five top-flight games and that can hardly be described as a taxing fixture list. Chelsea enjoyed plenty of possession in those matches, but there are major inefficiencies in both boxes which may not be remedied on Monday night. Wolves were hammered 3-0 at Newcastle last time out, but the performance wasn’t anywhere near as bad as the scoreline suggests. The expected goals figure from that contest was only 2.11 to 1.62 in the Magpies favour with the shot count 17-13 in the Toon Army’s favour. Clearly, Wolves can be considered a little unfortunate to suffer such a heavy defeat and, prior to that, Vítor Pereira’s men had beaten Leicester and Manchester United while also collecting a point against Tottenham. Backing Wolves or the draw on the double chance look a value play at Stamford Bridge. Long shot of the day Over 3.5 goals in Villarreal v Mallorca @ 13/5 There have been 35 goals in Villarreal’s nine home La Liga matches and the trend for goals can continue when Mallorca come to the Estadio de la Ceramica. The visitors have conceded 15 times in their last six games, that includes three goals against four-tier Pontevedra in the Copa del Rey and the goals look set to flow again.
