SunEnergy1 Racing Confirms Bathurst 12H Return
Kenny Habul, Jules Gounon, Luca Stolz to team up in bid for third Bathurst 12H victory in four years...
SunEnergy1 Racing has confirmed plans to contest this year’s Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour as it aims for a third victory in four years with its Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
The No. 75 car will once again be driven by team owner Kenny Habul and factory stars Jules Gounon and Luca Stolz, the race-winning crew from 2022 and ’23, in the Intercontinental GT Challenge season opener on Jan. 31-Feb. 2.
In last year’s race, Habul, Gounon and Stolz missed out on a third successive Bathurst 12H win by just 2.6 seconds, losing out to the Manthey EMA Porsche 911 GT3 of Matt Campbell, Ayhancan Guven and Laurens Vanthoor.
Despite that narrow defeat, Gounon maintained a perfect record of podium finishes going back to his first win with Bentley Team M-Sport in 2020.
The IGTC opener is part of what the French driver described as a “lighter” program of events this year with Mercedes-AMG as he also steps up to join the Alpine Hypercar squad in the FIA World Endurance Championship full-time.
