“Sonic the Hedgehog 4” Set For March 2027

Paramount Pictures has officially announced a March 19th 2027 release date for “Sonic the Hedgehog 4”.

The studio announced the project before the third movie hit the screen back in December. That film went on to gross $218 million domestically and $422 million globally to date and is still going, the franchise’s highest-grossing entry to date.

In addition, it received the best reviews of the franchise so far. The title just hit digital today and contains a post-credits sequence teasing at least one key new character joining the franchise.

The original 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog made $319 million worldwide and set a record for the highest-grossing video game adaptation, with $405 million worldwide. Those first two films also drove over $180 million in global consumer spending on digital purchases and rentals.

Earlier this month, the overall franchise surpassed $1 billion in box office receipts worldwide, which means the two biggest game-to-film franchises are currently Mario and Sonic.

No word as yet regarding what talent in front or behind the camera are returning for the next one.
