Self Esteem announces new album ‘A Complicated Woman,’ shares “Focus is Power” video
‘A Complicated Woman’ is Self Esteem’s first album since 2021’s Mercury Prize-nominated ‘Prioritize Pleasure’ and will be out April 25.
Self Esteem, the solo project of Rebecca Lucy Taylor, has announced A Complicated Woman, her first album since 2021’s great, Mercury Prize-nominated Prioritize Pleasure. It’s out April 25 via Universal and includes contributions from Nadine Shah, Moonchild Sanelly, Sue Tompkins, and more.
The first single from the album is “Focus is Power,” which Taylor says is a phrase she wrote on a sticker while working in her parent’s shed during the pandemic. It’s a big, anthemic ballad with big harmonies that plays into A Complicated Woman‘s themes of taking control of your life. You can watch the video for it below.
