Samsung has a Galaxy S25 variant with 16GB of RAM, but you can’t buy it

Samsung has recently announced its latest flagship phones – the Galaxy S25 series. All the models across the board come with 12GB of RAM, which is a bit disappointing in this day and age. However, the company does have a 16GB RAM variant of the Galaxy S25. The only problem is that most of us won’t be able to buy it.

If you want the 16GB variant of the Galaxy S25, it seems that Samsung is only selling that particular variant in regions like South Korea and China. This is a maxed-out version of the phone which comes with 1TB of storage and is only available in TItanium Jet Black. It is priced at around $1,568.

It is unclear why Samsung isn’t making this widely-available, but it wouldn’t be the first time the company has launched region-exclusive handsets. Some of you might recall that shortly after the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in 2024, the company followed up with a thinner version of the phone called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition. Unfortunately, it seemed like it was only available in South Korea.

RAM has always been important in our computers and smartphones. It allows for apps to run in the background more efficiently. However, with AI becoming the main focus of smartphones these days, RAM is more important than ever. Especially since Samsung is focusing heavily on how the Galaxy S25 phones support on-device AI processing.

In the past, having a lot of RAM felt gimmicky. While RAM is important, some companies did go overboard. 16GB seems to be the standard these days among flagship devices. So it is unclear why Samsung is sticking with 12GB. The company is also famously refusing to introduce support for Qi2. Instead, they are relying on third-party accessory makers to bring that feature to their phones.
