The Samsung Galaxy S25 series was just launched but it looks like the rumors surrounding the Galaxy S26 series has already started. According to a post on X by user kro, a prototype unit of the Galaxy S26 Ultra shows no visible camera hole. This suggests Samsung is ready to ditch the hole-punch cutout for its 2026 flagship phones.
Under-display cameras aren’t entirely new for Samsung. The company has already implemented the technology in its foldables, starting with the Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, bringing this feature to its flagship Galaxy S series has taken longer than expected. While UDC tech has improved over the years, challenges like maintaining image quality and display consistency have likely delayed its adoption in Samsung’s main flagship series.
Beyond the under-display camera, other rumors suggest the Galaxy S26 Ultra could be powered by a 2nm Exynos chipset. However, Samsung may not be upgrading the camera hardware significantly. This decision could disappoint photography enthusiasts hoping for new sensors or lenses.
While these rumors are exciting, it’s important to take them with a grain of salt. The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is only expected to arrive in 2026. Assuming Samsung keeps to its timetable, we still have a year to go before we get anything official.
In the meantime, if you’d rather not wait, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is now available for pre-order. Samsung is running some promos on its website so click here for the details.
