Ben Simmons could be on the move just one day after the NBA’s trade deadline.
The 2016 first-overall pick is reportedly finalizing a buyout with the Brooklyn Nets that would make him a free agent, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Potential suitors rumoured to be meeting with the three-time All-Star include the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers, as Simmons now searches for a new home with a contender.
Simmons, 28, has appeared in 34 of the Nets’ 51 games this season, and in just 90 games over his three seasons in Brooklyn, as availability continues to hinder his career.
He is averaging 13.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.4 assists across 365 total games in his career with the Nets and with the Philadelphia 76ers — where he was crowned the NBA’s Rookie of the Year in 2017-2018.
The Nets currently sit 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 17-34 record.
