It appears Patrick Kane is going to be out for a while.
The Detroit Red Wings placed the veteran winger on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury, making the designation retroactive to Jan. 21.
Kane has already missed back-to-back games, wins against the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning last week, due to the injury.
In his second season with Detroit, the 36-year-old has suited up in 42 of the team’s 49 games, logging 11 goals and 19 assists in that span.
Despite going 10-4-1 in their last 15 games and rattling off a seven-game win streak, the Red Wings are 23-21-5 and remain near the bottom of the standings as they sit seventh in the Atlantic Division.
Detroit, without Kane, will host the Los Angeles Kings on Monday.
