The regulations are designed to prevent commercial deals with companies linked to club owners from being above a fair market value. An independent panel found aspects of the League’s rules to be “unlawful” last autumn. And City claim that remains the case despite top-flight clubs’ subsequent 16-4 vote in favour of tweaks to the rules. Prem chief executive Richard Masters said: “The Premier League remains strongly of the view that the APT rules comply with all competition law requirements.”
