Penguins place Jesse Puljujarvi on unconditional waivers

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jesse Puljujarvi has been placed on unconditional waivers in order to terminate his contract, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports.

The 26-year-old was sent down to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday after being held out of the lineup for two straight games.

Puljujarvi originally signed with the Penguins in December of 2023 and has appeared in 48 contests, picking up just 17 points.

He re-signed on a two-year deal valued at $1.6 million with the Penguins in February of 2024, but will now become a free agent if he is not claimed within the next 24 hours.
