Star Trek has a famous quote: “To boldly go where no man has gone before.”

For the Paramount+ streaming film Star Trek: Section 31, the film takes Star Trek in a new direction in its tone and essence as the franchise embarks on a new direction.

The made-for-streaming film brings back Michelle Yeoh to reprise Emperor Philippa Georgiou from the Star Trek: Discovery series for this film featuring the mysterious Starfleet organization Section 31. In the Star Trek lore, Section 31 is mentioned multiple times in several Star Trek series as a covert organization outside Starfleet.

The film also stars Omari Hardwick as Alok Sahar, Kacey Rohl as Rachel Garrett, Sam Richardson as Quasi, Sven Ruygrok as Fuzz, Rob Kazinsky as Zeph, and Humberly Gonzalez as Melle. It was written by Craig Sweeny and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi.

Here is the movie synopsis:

In the movie, Yeoh reprises her fan-favorite role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou—a character she played in Star Trek: Discovery’s first season—who joins a secret division of Starfleet. Tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets, she also must face the sins of her past.
