New research with the catchy title Dear Abby: Should I Give Advice or Receive It? reinforces lots of previous research finding that peer mentoring not only helps the mentees, but also helps those who are doing the mentoring.
We’ve found the same thing, both anecdotally and through our own tracking, with a peer mentoring program we’ve done for over ten years at our school.
My IB Theory of Knowledge students have been mentoring ninth-graders, as well as our ELL Beginning and Intermediate students, for that period of time.
