Minisforum is one of the tech companies that was present during the last CES 2025. The firm is mostly known for its highly scalable and adaptable Mini PC workstations. However, it the company expanded its horizons to a new market segment: NAS. The Minisforum NAS N5 Pro stands out for its support for up to 96GB of RAM and more.

Minisforum’s first NAS is built around AMD’s Zen 5 architecture and up to 96GB of RAM

According to NASCompares, Minisforum is planning to launch two more NAS models this year. The N5 Pro is the brand’s “inaugural product” with which it intends to make a big splash in the niche. The device is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 (Strix Point) processor. The chip boasts a CPU with 12 cores and 24 threads at a base clock speed of up to 5.2 GHz (base speed of 3.5 GHz) for top-level performance.

The NAS is built around AMD’s Zen 5 architecture. Being a modern high-end tech product, the N5 Pro comes ready for the AI ​​era. It has an AI engine that delivers up to 50 INT8 TOPS. One of the most impressive aspects of Minisforum’s NAS N5 Pro is its support for up to 96GB DDR5 ECC RAM via two slots.

The product boasts high versatility when it comes to setting up your storage configuration. There are 5x hot-swappable SATA bays where each supports up to 22TB of storage, either traditional HDDs or SSDs. There are also 3x M.2 NVMe slots and U.2 SSD support. You’ll be able to control your RAID configurations using tools like TrueNAS and Unraid.

Several connectivity options available

For connectivity, there are 2x Ethernet ports—10Gbps and 5Gbps—3x USB-A 3.2 Gen2, 1x internal USB-A 3.2 Gen2 port, 1x USB 2.0 port, and 2x USB-C 4 ports—with write speeds of up to 40Gbps. You’ll also find 1x HDMI 2.0 output, 2x USB-C ports with DisplayPort 2.0 Alt support, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Other connectivity options include 1x PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and 1x OCuLink 4i port for external GPU support or additional storage.

There are no details yet on pricing and availability for Minisforum’s NAS N5 Pro. Expect more details to emerge in the next few weeks.
