Malaysia Airports sale to Gateway Development Alliance consortium edges closer
The purchasing consortium, which is led by Malaysia sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional and includes Global Infrastructure Partners and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, recently extended its controlling shareholding in the airport company to 86.51%.
MALAYSIA. A takeover of Malaysia Airports by the Gateway Development Alliance (GDA) consortium is nearing completion.
The purchasing consortium, which is led by Malaysia sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional and includes Global Infrastructure Partners and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, recently extended its controlling shareholding in the airport company to 86.51%.
It also extended its closing date for acceptance of the RM11 per share offer to shareholders to 4 February from 24 January. The offer values the company at around US$4 billion.
Th process began in May 2024, when the consortium first announced its plan to undertake a conditional voluntary take-over offer to acquire all the remaining shares in Malaysia Airports it did not own.
The bidders said they plan to delist Malaysia Airports from stock exchange Bursa Malaysia upon completion.
Malaysia Airports owned and operates international and domestic airports across Malaysia and Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Türkiye.
