Laurence Fishburne and Hiroyuki Sanada have prolonged notable careers that deserve recognition at the upcoming 52nd Annual Saturn Awards.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films made the announcement today that Laurence Fishburn will receive The Lance Reddick Legacy Award. LaVar Burton will be the special presenter to hand the ward to Fishburne. The inaugural award was given last year to fellow John Wick castmate Keanu Reeves last year.

Hiroyuki Sanada will be honored with The Robert Forster Artist’s Award that recognizes the body of work and impact on the industry. The award was created in the memory of the late Robert Forster. Past award recipients included Christopher Lloyd and Seth MacFarlane.

“Both of these remarkable actors have significantly shaped the entertainment landscape, and captivating audiences around the globe. Their unique contributions have enriched genre entertainment and played a pivotal role in bringing it into the mainstream, celebrating the creativity and passion that fuel our industry. We can’t wait to honor their incredible achievement!” stated Academy President Robert Holguin with Saturn producers Bradley and Kevin Marcus.

Laurence Fishburne is a notable actor both on stage and on screen with an extensive resume that included Apocalypse Now, Boyz n the Hood to more recent franchises of The Matrix and John Wick. In 1993, he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor as Ike Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with it. He had won five Primetime Emmy Awards and a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for Two Trains Running in 1992. His other notable credits included The Color Purple, School Daze, Mystic River, Contagion, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Hannibale, and the ABC sitcom Black-ish.

Hiroyuki Sanada is an actor who started his career at the age of five in the 1960s as a protégé of actor Sonny Chiba. Trained in martial arts, he proven himself as a dramatic actor to international audiences that included Ring, Twilight Samurai, The Last Samurai, and Rush Hour 3. His other credits included Sunshine, Speed Racer, The Wolverine, 47 Ronin, Minions, Avengers: Endgame, Army of the Dead, Bullet Train, Westworld, and John Wick: Chapter 4. He is currently on the FX drama series Shōgun.

The 52nd Annual Saturn Awards will take place in Universal City this Sunday, February 2nd. It will be live-stream for free on The Roku Channel and ElectricNOW.
