Ben Johnson is off the board. The hottest coaching name on the market has officially been hired. The Lions offensive coordinator has been the hottest name in the coaching cycle for the last two seasons, and has finally landed a home. The Windy City rejoices, as Las Vegas hangs its’ head. One man’s failure is another man’s gift. Brady and the Raiders made a strong push for Johnson, but ultimately Chicago prevailed in its pursuit to land the number one coaching candidate on the board. It’s easy to see why Johnson chose to come to Chicago, as opposed to Las Vegas. Caleb Williams. Johnson will bring his creative offensive acumen to Chicago in hopes of unlocking all of Williams’ untapped potential. The quarterback’s talent was on display throughout his rookie season, but was too inconsistent under the previous regime to truly live up to the extremely high expectations. Johnson choosing to come to an organization with a franchise quarterback in place is no surprise. What is a surprise, is that Brady didn’t get what, or in this case, who he wanted. “I am legitimately stunned,” Brett Kollman of the famous and respected ‘The Film Room’ YouTube channel said. “I thought for sure he was a Raider. “Now I’m wondering if the agent was just using them to squeeze more money out of them.” As soon as the Raiders fired Antonio Pierce, everyone assumed Brady and the organization would go hard after Johnson. And they did. But Johnson chose elsewhere. And now Williams and the city of Chicago can rejoice. Time will tell if Johnson is the answer in Chicago, but the Bears’ fanbase can take solace that for once, something went their way.
