DC Studios co-chief James Gunn can’t seem to sit still.
The filmmaker is currently in post-production on both his “Superman” movie and the second season of “Peacemaker” for Max with both projects to arrive on screens mid-late Summer.
Despite that workload and serving in his DC executive capacity, Gunn has revealed he’s already making headway on his next DC script. Asked how he balances his work, he revealed on Threads:
“The bulk of my time is dealing with post-production on Superman and Peacemaker, but I’m also spending a fair amount of time pre-writing my next DC Studios project and watching dailies and offering ideas on the other projects. It’s much less overwhelming than when I was directing.”
As he’s been quite happy to deal with fan questions on the platform, he also was asked whether he considers his “The Suicide Squad” film as part of the new DCU canon. He says:
“Only ‘Creature Commandos’ forward is pure canon… ‘The Suicide Squad’ has a lot of consistencies but I think of it as an imperfect memory.”
Two film projects announced for the “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters” initiative still don’t have a writer attached – “The Authority” and “The Brave and the Bold”.
The talk of his next project has led to speculation about what property he will write next. As Gunn has expressed his love of Batman in past interviews, it seems “Brave and the Bold” is the most common guess. Others have suggested “Booster Gold.”
