Virtual assistants can be useful sometimes when you need it to help with certain general tasks. This includes turning on/off smart home appliances, setting timers or alarms, reminders, or just general search. However, Google is kicking things up a notch with its new Gemini “Talk Live about this” feature that’s rolling out to its Pixel 9 devices as we speak.
Following last week’s announcement, Gemini’s “Talk Live about this” capability is now rolling out to the Pixel 9 series. This gives users a new way of interacting with AI in real time. Previously, the feature was limited to general knowledge conversations. However, Gemini Live now lets users ask about images, files, and YouTube videos directly from the AI assistant.
Users can check out the feature by launching the floating Gemini overlay and look for a new suggestion chip about the “Ask about” button. From there, users can ask the AI questions about videos, files, or images.
Currently, Gemini Talk Live is appearing on Pixel 9 devices running the Google app 16.3.32 (beta). The feature is expected to roll out to the Galaxy S24 soon. However, the Galaxy S25 actually supports the feature right out of the box. More Android devices will gain access in the coming weeks, leading up to Project Astra. This is an upcoming feature that will introduce real-time screen sharing and video streaming with Gemini Live.
