Dylan O’Brien (“The Maze Runner,” “Love and Monsters”) will star opposite Rachel McAdams in the darkly comic horror thriller “Send Help” which Sam Raimi will direct and produce for 20th Century Studios.
The project, dubbed “Misery meets Cast Away,” is being seen as Raimi’s return to the horror genre. It is the first horror film he has directed since 2009’s “Drag Me To Hell.”
McAdams plays Linda, a woman on a business flight with her irritating boss Bradley (O’Brien). The plane crashes, leaving them stranded on a deserted island – the only two who survive. While Linda has serious survival skills, Bradley… does not.
They must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.
Mark Swift and Damian Shannon (2009’s “Friday the 13th”) penned the initial script with Scott Beck and Bryan Woods (“A Quiet Place”) doing a re-write.
Zainab Azizi will produce the film, which is targeting a theatrical release. O’Brien is coming off well-regarded performances in “Saturday Night,” “Caddo Lake,” and “Ponyboi.” He’s back at Sundance this year with “Twinless.”
