Director Talks Bringing Red Hulk To Life

According to the release calendar, Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World will be the first real blockbuster of 2025. The film opens in mid-February, and tickets are now on sale. However, no word yet on how those sales are going.

They should be pretty good, as reports have suggested the film is tracking for an opening in the $82-107 million range over the President’s Day weekend in just under four weeks’ time.

Recently, Fandango caught up with filmmaker Julius Onah and stars Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez to talk about the movie when the topic of Red Hulk came up.

Onah seemingly couldn’t be more happy with bringing the crimson meanie to life:

“It’s surreal, it’s incredible, it’s exciting. I’ve gotta tell you, when Red Hulk first became a possibility in this film, I just smiled. I was smiling like a kid. That was when I knew this was the idea and the right moment to put him out there in the world.

Having an actor like Harrison Ford play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross knowing that he’s going to have scenes with Anthony Mackie…the Hulk character is such this expression of id but there’s something about, especially a rage Hulk, that is so relatable and exciting for the audience.

There’s also a real thematic core when it comes to the expression of anger in this film and what it means for the conflict at the centre of this film.”

Onah also teases that the Marvel end credits for this one are important, saying “everybody should stay” for them. Check out a recently released IMAX featurette for the film below, as well as a new TV spot showing off advancements to Sam Wilson’s suit:
