But Beaton’s winning moment was upstaged by an almost embarrassing moment. Nicknamed the ‘Bronzed Adonis’ during his prime years, Beaton is a former BDO World Darts champion. The 60-year-old showed his superiority over Petersen in a bizarre match that saw the pair play a game of rock, paper, scissors. After one particular throw, Beaton stepped behind Petersen at the end of the stage, only to misplace his foot. It led to him stumbling as he placed his foot in the wrong place leading to his slipping off the small stage before quickly jumping back on in the hope that nobody saw it. But there was no such luck for Beaton with Petersen even offering a smile to ensure he was in good shape. While it was all kept low key at the oche, commentator Laura Turner couldn’t help but laugh at the incident. She said: “I think the players need a bit of a moment. “I think me and Henry need a bit of a moment!  MODUS Super SeriesPetersen was quick to see what had happened behind him[/caption] MODUS Super SeriesThe game was briefly paused while everyone composed themselves[/caption] “Steve Beaton managed to find an ever-so-slightly softer part of the stage there. He’s just put his foot down it. He’s saved himself though, it was quite impressive.” Co-commentator Henry Deacon also had his say as he jokingly uttered: “How was your trip Steve?” The MODUS Super Series is a weekly tournament featuring 12 players, competing from Monday to Friday to win a place in the finals group, which is staged on Saturday evening. The player who finishes first after three sessions qualifies directly for finals night on Saturday evening. Finals night sees the players compete in a small group stage followed by semi-finals and a final to determine the weekly winner. The competition then starts again the following week, with 12 new players competing for the title. After 12 weeks of competition, each weekly winner compete in ‘Champions Week’, which is played every 13 game week to decide who will win the series and earn a place on the honours board.
